the brief

Update a classic 1930s two storey home to:

• create light-filled, open plan living spaces that took full advantage of fabulous ocean and jetty views
• maximise passive solar potential for energy-efficient heating and cooling

Redesign the ground floor to:

• Combine discrete1930s style spaces into a large, luminous living area with floor-to-ceiling glazing and views from all angles
• Shift and update a staircase that obstructed ocean views
• Design a northern eave overhang to optimise solar gain and thermal comfort.

Transform a dated second story into an elegant adult retreat with a luxurious ensuite, loads of walk-in storage and a spacious entertainment area.
